CLP 2011 Annual Report
Posted by admin about in Resources
2011 was a turning point and a historic year both for our beloved country and CLP. It was the year when citizens worked with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to successfully reverse the trend of brazen electoral fraud, which had been unleashed on the country by the politicians and their shenanigans.
The major thrust of our work this year was citizen participation in promoting electoral transparency through mandate protection and partnership with INEC. Encouraged by the appointment of a credible Chair for the Electoral Body, Professor Attahiru Jega, and the pledge of non interference in the electoral process by the presidency, we maximised the opportunity to engage with the electoral body in enabling citizens participate in monitoring and reporting on the elections.
Our work in 2011 is one of which we are very proud at CLP and for which we would like to blow our horns a little (for a change!). CLP showed itself to be on the cutting edge as far as popular participation is concerned, recording a string of firsts.
