Inclusion of Grassroots Citizens in Election Day Management helps improve integrity of electoral process in Nigeria

Effective Election Day Management is a key factor in achieving electoral integrity. The main actors in this process are usually the Election Management Body (EMB) and Security Agencies. Other notable actors are Election Observer groups such as Civil Society Organisations, Professional and International Bodies whose feedback is usually given after elections had taken place and therefore has no impact on the Election Day Management. The Grassroots people are almost completely excluded from this process and their role is usually limited to casting of votes.
This was the case with elections prior to the 2011 elections in Nigeria. CLP completely changed this paradigm of Election Day Management through its ReclaimNaija platform that allowed Grassroots citizens and other Nigerians to actively participate in the electoral process and report incidents in real-time to the EMB. This real time reporting helped the EMB to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues as they occur, thereby, contributing significantly to the integrity of elections in the country.
